Fun and education are our goals, but safety is always our first priority.

Be very aware of the maximum pressure ratings of every component including thread tape. NEVER USE anything without a maximum pressure rating listed or below 200 PSI. Only use components made of lead-free brass or stainless steel. Purchasing the highest pressure rated components that you can find is always a good idea. NautilusRockets.com prefers to use components rated at a minimum of 7250 PSI in the launchers and modules that we use in house, we pressure test all our water rocket pressure vessels in a specially designed test chamber constructed of 1.5 inch thick bullet resistant polycarbonate panels and 3/8” thick 2” x 2” angle iron constructed by the late Jonathan Gordon Logsdon-Tolbert. Before we consider using a particular brand of bottle in any water rocket, we destroy a number of them in our test chamber. You can find videos of our testing of bottles and a videos of Jon’s daughter Jade launching water rockets. Jade built her first water rocket at three years of age using NautilusRockets.com Origami Fins and Soft Foam Nosecone and it is featured in our Example Builds page. NEVER USE a NautilusRockets.com Modular Basic Launcher without an automatic pressure relief valve, Hose Module, or Pressure Relief Module. Next to each item on The Parts List are suggested links on Amazon, and Home Depot. We recommend using pressure washer quick connect fittings over standard air hose quick connect fittings because they are open even when disconnected. this ensures that there is no pressure stored in the system unless a rocket is being launched or a Pressure Test Module is being used.

We have YouTube videos available showing construction of the NautilusRockets.com Modular Basic Launcher Kit, proper wrapping of Teflon thread tape, and water rocket construction.
